OWNING A PET IN XEO HOUSING

The following information/documentation is required to receive a pet application form:

  1. Pet type (dog, cat, etc.)
  2. Breed
  3. Age & weight
  4. Spayed/neutered status
  5. Vaccination records from veterinarian
  1. Recent photo of the pet
  2. Description of temperament and behavior
  3. Proof of renter's insurance
  4. IF APPLICABLE: Documentation for service animal or emotional support animal

Please contact your Property Manager once the above documentation is gathered.

They will provide you with an application form.

PET RENT

A monthly pet rent is required to help cover additional wear and tear caused by animals.

DOGS: Ranges from $15-$35 depending on size & breed.

CATS: $10

BIRDS: $5

FISH: $5-$15 depending on size of tank

SMALL RODENTS: $5-$10 depending on size of cage.



**Please note: the term 'pet' does not include service, assistive, support, or therapy animals. Those animals are not subject to Pet Rent.**

Tenants are permitted to own the following pets in XEO Housing Authority Properties:

CATS

Maximum number: 2

Maximum adult weight: 15 lbs


All cats living in XEO Housing Authority must be:

  1. Up-to-date with all required vaccinations (including rabies).
  2. Spayed or Neutered.
  3. Kept indoors or on a leash in all common areas.
  4. Trained to use a litter box and kept clean.
  5. Free of fleas, ticks, and other parasites.

FISH

Maximum aquarium size: 15 gallons


All fish living in XEO Housing must be:

  1. Kept in clean, well-maintained aquariums that are properly filtered to prevent odors or unsanitary conditions.
  2. Not create safety hazards (e.g. overloaded electrical outlets for tank equipment).
  3. Cared for in accordance with basic animal welfare standards (tank must be appropriate size for species of fish).

BIRDS

Maximum number: 2


All birds living in XEO Housing must be:

  1. Up-to-date with all required vaccinations (if applicable).
  2. Kept in a secure cage or enclosure at all times.
  3. Well-behaved and not cause persistent noise disturbances to neighbors.
  4. Cared for in accordance with basic animal welfare standards (cage/enclose must appropriate size for the species of bird).

SMALL RODENTS

Species allowed: Guinea Pigs, Gerbils, and Hamsters. ABSOLUTELY NO MICE OR RATS.

Maximum number: 1


All small rodents living in XEO Housing must be:

  1. Kept in a secure cage or enclosure at all times.
  2. Kept in a cage that is maintained regularly to prevent odors or unsanitary conditions.
  3. Free of mites or other parasites.

DOGS

Maximum number: 1

Maximum adult weight: 45 lbs


All dogs living in XEO Housing Authority must be:

  1. Up-to-date with all required vaccinations (including rabies).
  2. Licensed in accordance with XEO Valley.
  3. Spayed or Neutered.
  4. Kept on a leash in all common areas (excluding the dog park).
  5. House-trained and kept clean.
  6. Free of fleas, ticks, and other parasites.
  7. Non-aggressive.
  8. Well-behaved and not cause persistent noise disturbances to neighbors.
